Mocha Almond Protein Ice Cream (Using a Ninja Creami)
Makes: 1 Serving
Per Serving: 40g Protein | 570 Cal
Ice cream is a staple in lots of freezers all year long, but it’s not exactly the healthiest or most protein-packed treat. We believe in balance here, and, sure, not everything needs to be high in protein or have perfectly-balanced macros, but when you’re looking for a treat that will also help you hit your nutrition goals or boost your protein intake, those kinds of characteristics matter.
If you’ve been on social media anytime over the last few months, you’ve likely seen the Ninja Creami machine in action. The machine allows you to easily make small batches of creamy ice cream at home from tons of different ingredients—no need to cook a custard or rely on high-fat creams.
This high-protein Mocha Almond Fudge ice cream is rich and creamy, with coffee-flavored ice cream, chocolate, and crunchy almonds. The best part? It’s loaded with tons of protein, ideal for those days when you want a treat that fits your goals.
Whether you’re looking for a dessert you can feel good about or you want to add some healthy treats into your after-dinner snack rotation, this is a recipe you’re going to want to try.
Why You’ll Love This Ninja Creami Protein Ice Cream Recipe
Loaded with tons of protein: The whole pint (before mix-ins) contains about 37 grams of protein—40g with the mix-ins.
Rich and creamy: Infused with the rich flavor of coffee and chocolate, this ice cream tastes oh-so-decadent.
Healthier than store-bought: This protein ice cream feels indulgent, but it’s way healthier than the regular ice cream you can find at the store or your local scoop shop.
Easy to make your own: Add different mix-ins to really make this ice cream your own. Try different nuts, use white chocolate chips in addition to semi-sweet, add a drizzle of fudge or caramel, mix in some peanut butter cups or chocolate cookies. The options for different flavors are endless!
Ingredients
Double shot of decaf espresso (or ½ cup decaf coffee)
½ cup Fairlife fat-free milk
¾ cup almond milk
2 tablespoons instant vanilla pudding mix
1.5 scoops chocolate or vanilla protein powder (whey or casein works best)
2 tablespoons pure maple syrup (or sugar-free syrup for lower carbs)
Pinch of salt
Optional Mix-Ins (highly recommended!):
2 tablespoons mini chocolate chips
2 tablespoons slivered almonds (toasted for extra flavor!)
Instructions
Blend the ice cream base: Add the espresso, milk, almond milk, pudding mix, protein powder, maple syrup, and salt to a blender or food processor. Blend until completely smooth.
Freeze the base: Transfer the ice cream mixture to a Ninja Creami pint container, place storage lid on the pint jar, and place in the freezer for at least 24 hours.
First Spin: Pull the pint container out of the freezer and let it sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes. Remove the lid and hit the Lite Ice Cream button on the Creami to spin the ice cream.
Add the mix-ins: After the initial spin, make a hole in the center of the pint of ice cream. Add your favorite mix-ins, then use the Mix-In cycle on your Creami to blend everything together.
Serve and enjoy: When it’s done with the second cycle, you’re ready to eat! Serve the ice cream (with your favorite toppings, if you'd like!) or place the lid back on the pint container and store in the freezer. Enjoy!

Swaps & Substitutions
Make it more chocolatey: Drizzle a little fudge (regular or sugar-free) into the ice cream during the mix-in cycle.
Lower the sugar: Instead of the maple syrup, use a sugar-free syrup to lower the amount of sugar in the ice cream.
Switch up the nuts: Use toasted pecans, walnuts, cashews, or hazelnuts instead of toasted almonds for a bit of a twist.
FAQs
-
No! If you’d prefer to use regular espresso or brewed coffee, go for it! Decaf just makes it easier for you to enjoy the ice cream at night without keeping yourself up all night.
-
I love using whey and casein protein powders for a creamy consistency, but if you prefer a plant-based protein powder, that will work too. Just be aware that the texture may be a little bit different.
-
You can definitely use another milk if that’s what you have, but Fairlife will add extra protein to your ice cream than most other milks, so that’s something to be aware of if you’re thinking about switching things up.
-
If you want to lower the amount of added sugar in this recipe, no problem! Just use sugar-free maple syrup, allulose, or another sweetener instead of the regular real thing.
-
No, you don’t. That being said, the mix-ins only make this delicious ice cream even better, so I highly recommend adding them!
-
You definitely can, but you might want to re-spin the ice cream again before eating if the texture isn’t as creamy as it was before.
